Macao Health Bureau advises people to continue to wear masks

There is media concern about when Macao can not wear masks. Luo Yilong, medical director of mountaintop hospital, said that since the epidemic situation in Macao has been relatively alleviated for a long time, the normal communication between Macao and the mainland is recovering orderly. Therefore, it is recommended that residents continue to wear masks, keep social distance and wash hands frequently, so as to further reduce the potential risk of infection. He said that residents do not have much space to wear masks for the time being. The authorities will continue to make recommendations on preventive measures such as wearing masks in response to changes in the epidemic situation and social operation.

In addition, since last month, the mainland has injected new coronal vaccine for medical and other special groups. Luo Yilong, medical director of the peak hospital, said that under ideal circumstances, the vaccine should be given to the public only after the completion of phase III clinical trials and on the basis of its exact effectiveness and safety. However, in the novel coronavirus pneumonia global pandemic, there are indeed some places where some of the highest risk persons are vaccinated against the third phase of clinical trials because of the serious epidemic. This is a balance between risk and benefit.

As for Macao, it is in a relatively safe environment, so there is no urgent need to use vaccines. There is still time to observe more data to consider which vaccine is the safest and most effective. I believe that the public will not be in a hurry to vaccinate the vaccine during the trial period.
